IDIADA has published in the International Tire Technology Expo held in Hannover (Germany) last 19th to 21st March the results of an international tyre research project performed between Spain and China. It aimed to develop a new tyre rubber compound material to tackle the “Magic Triangle” for a new generation of high-performance tyres.
The main objective of the project has been to develop a new hybrid rubber to manufacture tyres with an improved performance. The two of the main tyre performances to be improved were rolling resistance (directly related to fuel consumption) and abrasion (tyre wear particles), which indicate a clear goal towards environmental improvement within this project. Those performances were improved while keeping the “Wet grip”, essential for the tyre safety performance.
Specifically, the project technical responsibilities of IDIADA have been:
It is believed that the objectives of this project are well aligned with the perspective of IDIADA on a much greener and less polluted future. Additionally, the scientific understanding on the topics involved in this project will enable IDIADA to further strengthen its technical skills. This will be beneficial for IDIADA when participating in international development projects (with the objective of improving tyre properties), as well as creating potential homologation activities on tyre wear analysis, which can transform into financial profits to the company in the long term.
