Applus+ IDIADA expands its Proving Ground with a new ADAS and Connected & Automated Vehicle Track

09/09/2019

Applus+ IDIADA has opened a new test track area, the ADAS & CAV Track. This track complements the facilities that IDIADA has at its main technical centre in Spain, and allows the simulation of any type of scenario related to the testing of CAV systems, vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure connectivity, as well as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) validation.

The complex includes two working areas of 5 ha. The first area is orientated to the testing of autonomous vehicles and their systems, and the second one is aimed at performing tests which simulate situations at intersections in urban and interurban areas. This new infrastructure has the flexibility to be used to simulate future traffic scenarios, such as high-speed intersections and highway simulations.

The new ADAS & CAV track offers the most cutting-edge services and technology to develop connected and automated vehicle technology.

This facility provides the following advantages:

    • It matches the upcoming Euro NCAP 2020 requirements
    • Suitable for all current and foreseen (up to 2025) Euro NCAP testing (AEB, AES, LDW, LKA, low-speed intersection…)
    • No fixed road lines, increasing test scenario capabilities
    • High-capacity area enabling up to 10 teams to work simultaneously
    • Certainty of testing with maximum security and confidentiality measures
    • Strong internal ADAS capabilities
    • Capacity to cross projects with IDIADA’s engineering services

The new facility’s greater flexibility allows a comprehensive spectrum of testing scenarios and enables the use of a wide variety of test equipment in the best conditions of safety and confidentiality.
