Applus+ IDIADA in partnership with Ericsson for MWC18

26/02/2018

The joint testing services will be located at IDIADA’s proving ground in Barcelona where ERICSSON will deploy a private mobile network covering the whole testing site

The combination of IDIADA’s vehicle electronics expertise, the already deployed C-ITS network, its proving ground and the ultimate network technologies on mobile data connectivity provided by ERICSSON will offer a complete unique one-stop solution for testing Connected and Automated Vehicles in a controlled, safe and repeatable environment.
The joint testing services will be located at IDIADA’s proving ground in Barcelona where ERICSSON will deploy a private mobile network covering the whole testing site with 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G technologies, capable of reproducing all potential critical situations. It will be a real network operating in frequencies licensed for telecom operators.
    Capabilities:
    • Radio network with latest 2G, 3G and LTE / Advanced LTE, 5G functions and services
    • Real radio, not simulated
    • 24/7 access to mobile device test environment
    • Replicable “real world” tests
Services for Cooperative (V2X) and Connected Vehicles:
    • Equipped test tracks and laboratories with state-of-the-art communication technologies for Cooperative and Connected Vehicles
    • Deployed V2X network compliance with international standards in Europe and the US
    • Private mobile network (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G…) with full control of the network parameters including radio access network and back-end systems
    • Development, validation and testing of cooperative and connected vehicle applications
    • Infrastructure and platforms for integration of 3rd party hardware and software for testing
    • Testing and validation of ERA-GLONASS and eCall systems for both component and vehicle levels.
Catalogue of test scenarios for challenging network conditions
Catalonia Living Lab has defined a comprehensive catalogue of test locations to support manufacturers in their connected and automated driving activities. The goal is to provide a variety of test locations on open roads and proving grounds focused on testing to assess the impact and validate the functions developed in real-world conditions. To be able to do so a large and heterogeneous number of scenarios are envisioned for testing connected and automated vehicle technologies and services in complex environments including a wide variety of road types, radio access technologies, road-user communities and modes of transport.
