Research and development of tools and procedures for the objective evaluation and proposal of countermeasures to improve the level of vulnerability in the field of Cybersecurity in Connected Vehicles

The connected vehicle is already a reality and its penetration rate will increase exponentially in the coming years. Connected ECU’s represent the greatest risk for vehicle manufacturers, passengers and for the vehicles themselves. Currently, there are no protection systems against cybersecurity threats and risks in the automotive industry. This insecurity is one of the threats to user acceptance and the successful deployment of connected and automated vehicles, slowing the development of technologies.
This is why IDIADA, with the support of Eurecat's Automotive Cybersecurity LAB (ACLAB), has presented a project focused on finding solutions that guarantee security, privacy and access control to vehicle information, thus increasing trust in the applications and significantly improving end-to-end risk management, with the aim of defining a new service for connected vehicle resilience assessment in relation to threats and potential cyberattacks.
The project has been funded by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, under the 2013-2016 National Plan for Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), under file number TSI-100200- 2016-32.
