Motorcycles

World-wide homologation / certification services

• USA / Canada. Applus IDIADA performs tests according to the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS) and EPA/CARB required tests such as: noise, exhaust, evaporative, fuel tank and fuel lines permeation. We provide full advice and support together with local application management for certification
• Australia. Accredited laboratory by DOTARS for all Australian Design Rules (ADR)
• Japan. Accredited laboratory for TRIAS Japanese standards: Emissions and noise
• Brazil. Recognized laboratory by CETESB and IBAMA to perform the emission tests. Furthermore, our local presence in this market allows us to manage the full process for homologation on behalf of the client
• Taiwan. Accredited by VSCC for all motorcycle safety standards
• China. Having a local company in this market helps us to provide full application management and guidance for CCC compliance

Applus IDIADA is also recognised as an official laboratory by a growing number of Asian and South American countries.

Helmets and visors

One of the services offered is the approval of protective helmets and their shields for drivers and passengers of motorbikes and mopeds according to Regulation 22.

Applus + IDIADA is also recognised as a Notified Body for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to Regulation (EU) 2016/425, and is an accredited testing laboratory for the CE certification of the following products:

• Protective clothing for motorcycle riders
• Equipment providing head protection
• Equipment providing hand and arm protection
• Equipment providing general body protection (clothing)
• Equipment providing chest and groin protection
• Protective Equipment against mechanical risks

Facilities for helmet testing

Applus IDIADA has all equipment and facilities  enabling it to optimise helmet and visor tests and to offer complete ECE helmet homologation.

Applus IDIADA is certified by the ISO 9001 standard that includes a calibration plan for all measurement equipment and assures a high quality of tests and final reports.
