CTAG-IDIADA acquires a passive safety testing facility in Frankfurt

    The joint venture expands its portfolio of services in Germany with the acquisition of an existing facility to strengthen its passive safety testing services.

    CTAG-IDIADA Safety Technology SL, the joint venture between Applus IDIADA and CTAG, has expanded its passive safety testing and engineering capabilities with the acquisition of a test complex near Frankfurt, Germany.

    The complex’s main testing capabilities include:

    • Hy-Ge reverse acceleration sled for frontal, rear and side impact simulation
    • Airbag deployment testing in ambient and controlled climatic conditions
    • Out-of-position testing
    • Ejection mitigation testing according to FMVSS 226
    • Environmental simulation for airbags and seatbelts 

     

    The facility, used by Germany and international vehicle and system manufacturers, is supported by a team of more than 35 experienced professionals and has state-of-the-art testing equipment with a complete set of dummies that includes THOR and World SID.
     
    This laboratory complements the facilities that both companies have in Spain, and re-enforces the passive safety capabilities in Germany, where IDIADA already has a pedestrian protection laboratory in Ingolstadt.
     
    CTAG-IDIADA was founded in 2002 with the objective of providing safety testing services to the automotive industry worldwide. Since then, the joint venture has become a reference partner for restraint system testing and integration projects. CTAG-IDIADA also manages an acceleration sled facility in Vigo, Spain.
