This new facility allows unique possibilities for virtual testing in areas such as chassis development, vehicle dynamics, ADAS, autonomous driving and HMI applications.
IDIADA has acquired a dynamic driving simulator, the new DiM250 from VI-Grade, which is capable of generating longitudinal, transversal and rotational acceleration forces up to 2.5 g, characterised by extremely low latency and high-frequency, replicating a wide range of vehicle dynamics manoeuvres and reproducing complex driving situations. This allows the testing and tuning of chassis systems and ADAS functions at a very early stage of development. Additionally, IDIADA already has an operating compact driving simulator with the same main features as the DiM250, except for the motion system.
By exploiting the synergies between physical and virtual testing, it will be possible to generate and correlate models in optimal context with the possibility of using IDIADA’s tracks, available as road data files and high-resolution graphics.
This new service is expected to be fully operative within the 2nd semester of 2019, with the compact driving simulator already being available. We believe that this is a key step forward in supporting our clients’ vehicle development activities.
